Eduroam is the wireless network at UiO. On first connection you must download an app that sets up the connection for you (see below).
Log in to Eduroam with username@uio.no.
Note that passwords containing the characters "???" are discouraged because they can cause problems on some devices. This applies to Apple devices and others.
Don’t lose wireless network access when changing your password
From 6 January 2026 there will be a security update for the Eduroam wireless network at UiO. If you have incorrect settings for Eduroam, you will need to set it up again the next time you change your password — or preferably before — to avoid losing wireless network access.
Download the app, and follow the instructions
When you want to connect to Eduroam for the first time, you need to download an app which configures the connection for you. To download the app, you need to be online.?
Once you have the app, open it and follow the instructions.
You can use the?uioguest?network?to get wifi temporarily if you don't have a mobile network such as 4G/5G.
Setting up Eduroam using the wireless network?uioguest
If you have a mobile network such as 4G/5G you do not need to use uioguest.?
You can use uio's guest network, uioguest, when you connect your device to Eduroam at UiO for the first time.
To connect to uioguest, you can either use your UiO username and password, or click "Register here" to connect with your phone number and one-time code via SMS. You can find more information about how to connect to uioguest here.
We recommend to delete uioguest from known networks so your device doesn't connect to uioguest instead of eduroam.

Chromebook
- Go to https://eduroam.no/connect/.
- Select Universitetet i Oslo.
Click Different operating system → Chrome OS.
- Click the green button with the text uio-brukernavn@uio.no Chrome OS on the new page.
- After download, open
chrome://networki Chrome. - Select "Import ONC file", and import the downloaded file.
Manual setup
If there is no app or other option for setting up Eduroam for your device you can configure Eduroam using these settings:?
- EAP-method: TTLS
- Phase 2-Authentication: PAP
- Choose "use system certificates"
- Domain: uio.no
- Identity:?username@uio.no
- Connect

Troubleshooting
- Try to delete or forget Eduroam and reconnect following the steps above or try these tricks and tips.
- If you are still experiencing issues, contact the IT Helpdesk with what steps you have taken while trying to connect.
- IT staff may attempt other login methods if the beforementioned methods do not work.
