Course content

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of different review types, such as scoping, systematic, and meta-analysis. Students learn to select the appropriate review based on their research questions, conduct effective literature searches using guidelines like PRISMA, and interpret review results while considering potential biases. Practical skills include using software tools like Rayyan and Covidence to support the review process. By course end, students can choose suitable review types for projects, plan and execute reviews, and interpret their findings. They gain competence in recognizing the strengths and limitations of each review type and acquire hands-on experience in conducting literature reviews.?

  • Procedures for conducting literature searches (e.g. following PRISMA guidelines and applying other relevant resources) How to interpret the results of different types of reviews (e.g. learning how to read tables, plots, and consider publication bias). Understanding the potential limitations of the review?

  • How literature reviews are conducted in practice?

  • Available software to support literature review (e.g., Rayyan, Covidence, and AI tools for screening).?

Requires admission to the master’s programme in Research in Special Needs Education or the master’s programme in Special Needs Education.?This course is also open for international exchange students at Master's.
