FHE4330 – Introduction to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in Public Health
Course description
Course content
This course offers a practical introduction to machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) within the context of public health epidemiology. Building upon students' existing knowledge in statistics and epidemiology, the course focuses on hands-on training using Stata to implement ML techniques such as classification, regularization, and ensemble methods. Additionally, it provides an overview of AI concepts, including natural language processing and ethical considerations. Through lectures and seminars, students will gain the skills necessary to apply ML and AI methods to real-world public health data.
Learning outcome
Knowledge
