Course content

The course approaches interaction design as a multidisciplinary field, emphasizing how information can be presented in many ways providing very different interactions. The course is designed as a two-part module. The first module discusses screen-based interactions, tangible interactions, ubiquitous interactions (sensor based), sound and robot interactions. The second part is based on a full time participation in a four week module in Interaction Design developed in cooperation with the School of Architecture and Design in Oslo (AHO).

Learning outcome

In the first module, students will get to experience multiple modalities of interaction design and learn what each of them involves through a full day of workshops and lectures. In the second module, students will experience the way in which the School of Architecture and Design educates their master¡¯s students in interaction design. The work in that module is typically a professional work related to a real projects from industry.

Admission

Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

6 students can be admitted. Both Phd.- and master students will be prioritized as followed:

1) Phd students at the Department of Informatics with INF9590 on their approved study plan and having passed INF4260 or equivalent.

2) Master students at the Department of Informatics with INF5590 on their approved study plan and having passed INF4260 or equivalent.

3) Master/PhD students at the Department of Informatics and having passed INF4260 or equivalent.

5) Other qualified students
