Plan for Monday September 15
Dear students GRA6834/IN4270,
Unfortunately, my condition is no better, and as a result, I will not be able to participate in the class on Monday. The following will happen:
- the Fabritek case will be postponed to next week
- the term paper introductory exercise will be conducted from 08:30 to 11:45 at BI, in classroom C2-040
- this exercise will be lead by Mali Konstad Br?dreskift (UiO) and by Ragnvald Sannes (BI), who has agreed to step in for Espen for this exercise
This exercise works as this:
At 0830, you will meet in the classroom and get a piece of paper and some markers. With these, you will create an (individual) poster describing the topic you would like to write your term paper about. The topic should be a company or organization facing an issue relevant to the course - for instance a company that wants to launch or implement a new technologically based product or service, a company threatened by same, a company wanting to implement a strategy related to sustainability, or similar.
At 09:30, we will start a process where each of you will present your poster to the class. You will have a short time to do this - probably about one minute! After the presentation, the poster will be hung on the wall. After the presentations, each student will stand before their poster. The “market” for term papers will be declared open, and you can form groups to write term papers together. The rules are as follows:
- everybody has to write their term paper in a group (no individual answers)
- a group must consist of at least one student from each institution (BI and UiO)
- at most four students per group
The specification for the papers will be further described later, but they should be written as a discussion case (similar to what you have seen) and be based on a real company or organization.
I am very sorry not to be able to participate in this exercise, which is fun and normally one of the highlights of the course for me.
Sincerely,
Espen Andersen
