FRM4040 – Research Methodology for Projects in Social Pharmacy
Course description
Course content
The aim of the course is to make you?prepared for research in social pharmacy by getting to know how to use social science methods and epidemiological methods for projects regarding medicine use in the society. You?will also be presented for studies where the methods have been used.
Learning outcome
The course will focus on:
- Quantitative research methods
- Qualitative research methods, including focus groups
- Epidemiological research methods
Admission to the course
The course is primarily open to students who have been admitted to the Department?of Pharmacy at the University of Oslo. If there is space available then others may also apply to take the course as long as their academic background is adequate.
Formal prerequisite knowledge
The course is only available to students who have passed their required pharmacy practice period and have passed all previous pharmacy courses or have the equivalent in social pharmacy and?the compulsory HSE courses?required for students at the 5-year Master`s Program in Pharmacy.
Pharmacy students from other Norwegian educational institutions may also be potential participants in the course.
Overlapping courses
- 5 credits overlap with FARM5000 – Preparation Course for Master`s thesis in Pharmacy.
Teaching
Lectures, study groups and a group assignment. The project assignment includes a compulsory group presentation to ensure that the students have acquired the expected knowledge.
Inactivity and / or excessive absences in compulsory education means that the student does not receive final assessment / examination.
