Facilities
Interested in learning more about the infrastructure associated with the fourMs lab?
The fourMs Lab is a core facility for research infrastructure consisting of state-of-the-art systems for studying human motion and physiology in a multimedia context. The lab is central to the activities of RITMO - Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of Rhythm, Time and Motion, a Norwegian Centre of Excellence. While it is hosted at RITMO, it supports interdisciplinary activities for all members of the University of Oslo, the greater research community worldwide, and industry professionals.
A large quantity of equipment is part of the fourMs lab which is both installed in the physical lab space as well as packaged for use outside of lab.
Physical Lab
The lab space consists of and entry way, control room, and main lab. Installed in the lab is a state of the art optical motion capture system and a number of conventional video cameras. In addition comes the multichannel audio rig, which allows for the exploration of spatial audio.
Portable Lab
A large quantity of technology composes the portable lab and can be used both in the physical space or taken to wherever the need is. Some of the main systems available are:
- Audio Equipment
- Various soundcards and mixers
- Microphones
- Recorders
- Electronic pianos and drums
- Eye tracking and Pupilometry
- PupilLabs PupilCore x4
- PupilLabs Neon x3
- Motion Capture
- Optitrack Flex 13 optical motion capture system
- Nansense motion capture suits with gloves
- Wearable sensors
- AX3 accelerometers
- Delsys EMG system (Trigno sensors x 8, FSR x 2, EKG x 4)
- Equivital sensor system (Accelerometer, 2 channel ECG, respiration, skin temp) n= 70
- Movesense sensors (full IMU + 1 channel ECG) n=20
- Video Tech
- Collection of GoPros
- Lighting in white, colored, and infrared
- Thermal cameras, handheld and networked ethernet
- Various camcorder and small video cameras
- Video mixers and recorders
E-Infrastructure
The fourMs lab has set up a facility for storage and analysis of all types of research data. The research storage drive is run by USIT and is secure for hosting research data. VDI access with related software has been setup for users needing a secure way to process personal research data such as motion capture.
Data Management
A local system for data management is integral for our research in the fourMs lab.
