Dealing with rejection is tough, but putting many hours into your research funding bid, paper, or application, only for it to be turned down is an all too common experience, and especially difficult to process. But it doesn’t have to be the end of the line for your idea! Rejection is surprisingly common within the academy, and there is nothing ‘wrong’ with experiencing it.

Please join us for an inspiring talk on ‘Dealing with rejection: how to handle failure in academia’ by professor Benjamin Sovacool. He is the Director of the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) and Professor in the Department of Earth & Environment, College of Arts & Sciences. He is also a Professor of Energy Policy at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex Business School.

The presentation will last for about 40 minutes and there will be time for Q&A following the presentation.

Who can participate?

The mini-seminar is open for all early-career researchers at the University of Oslo. It will be a valuable session for researchers at all stages across the all disciplines: we welcome those just starting out on the research funding journey, to those with more rejections than they care to count.
